Eight mortals from wildly different walks of life end up together, almost by accident, in the Penglai Wonderland. Lü Dongbin and Zhongli Quan lead the group, whose other members are Zhang Guolao, Lan Caihe, Cao Guojiu, Han Xiangzi, Tieguai Li and He Xiangu. Some sign on impulsively and others join at once, and together they pretend to be immortals, pulling risky stunts as they prepare for a major heist. Their carefully planned immortality scam is driven by a hunger for quick riches and the nerve to try deceiving heaven itself. Unknown to them, a startling conspiracy is closing in. The result is a fantasy adventure comedy about a band of fake immortals whose con becomes a farcical journey.
