A show about people discovering anime made by people who know exactly why you fell in love with it in the first place. Every reference lands because it's not winking at you, it's just talking about the things that genuinely matter to the people in the room. The comedy doesn't punch down at fans; it lives inside fandom and finds the humor in how obsession feels from the inside, in real time, while the world quite literally ends and nobody notices.

Minoa Asagaya starts at Sakaneko Private High School knowing almost nothing about anime, yet one scene from a show she watched as a child keeps haunting her, and she cannot remember its title. Arisu Kamiigusa, the wealthy, popular girl in class and a devoted otaku, overhears her asking around but does not recognize it either. Finding that the school has no anime club, the two found an Anime Research Club, hoping like-minded members can help solve the mystery. Through talks with classmate Miko Kouenji and a group of anime-loving upperclassmen, Minoa slowly gets hooked. The club holds out against a student council that keeps trying to disband it, and while the end of the world approaches, the members pay it no mind and keep talking anime, whether in Akiba, at real places that served as anime settings, or at the hot springs. The result is a comedy about fandom and friendship.
