A kid from nowhere gets yanked into a game where the stakes are wishes he doesn't even know he needs yet. Bakegyamon treats its monster battles like poker, read your opponent, know when to push, know when you're beaten, and wraps genuine character arcs around every match. Sanshiro lives in a tiny island town where adventure seems out of reach, until a mysterious stranger invites him to play a game. Without any warning, he is carried off to a backwards universe to take part in BakéGyamon, a contest in which monsters are set against other monsters. On the way he meets fellow players, each there for a particular reason: the winner is granted a wish. The series mixes action, adventure, comedy and fantasy.
