Soma watches his best friend die in a network raid, gets arrested, and comes back as a weapon piloting a mecha built from his own guilt. The show refuses to let him be a hero about it. What makes this hit is how brutally it treats the gap between what Toru wants to be and what he's actually become: a tool wearing a dead man's role.

Soma Toru belongs to Steppen Wolf, a hacking group that roams freely through a world split between physical reality and the Wired, a global virtual network. On their final job, the group strikes at the database of the UN forces, and Toru loses Nonomura Yuya, his friend and team leader. The army arrests him. To win his freedom, he must serve with the first squad of the UN Security Force Information Administration Bureau, an anti-hacker unit. While working there, Toru hunts for the person who killed his friend, and his new comrades each have their own reasons for fighting. A terrorist group, a security company and the army battle one another daily, and a string of seemingly unrelated incidents hints that something larger is taking shape. Adapted from a game by GIGA, this four-episode OVA mixes mecha action with science fiction drama.
