The fanservice isn't hiding what this show actually is, a Three Kingdoms action romp where schoolgirl fighters punch each other senseless because ancient warrior spirits told them to. The fights have real weight and speed, even if everything between them exists to get clothes off. If you want ecchi that doesn't pretend to be something smarter than itself, Ikki Tousen knows exactly what lane it's in.
Seven high schools in the Kanto region are locked in constant war, and their students, boys and girls alike, have become skilled fighters who battle rival schools for power. Strange jewels guide their lives, holding the spirits and destinies of warriors from China's Three Kingdoms era, and many of those destinies are cruel. Hakufu Sonsaku, a cheerful but scatterbrained girl with brilliant martial arts talent, has recently moved to Japan and enrolls at Nanyou Academy. She seems fated to unite the schools, just as her historical counterpart once united the land, but a darker fate hangs over her. Her cousin and classmate Koukin Shuuyu is charged by her mother with protecting her, a job made harder by sudden fits of rage in which she blacks out and unleashes a destructive power that endangers her own life. Alongside Nanyou's Big Four, the pair must thwart rival schools and learn the truth about her power, while those around her fight to break free of their own destinies. Expect martial arts action with a heavy dose of ecchi fan service.
