Louis walking away from the Beastar position is the moment the show stops being about politics and starts being about what it costs to refuse a role the world has decided you were born to play. Season 2 doesn't give you the heroic arc where ambition wins; it gives you four different characters grinding against the weight of expectation, each one breaking in a different direction. The CG animation becomes a feature, not a distraction, because these animals' bodies move with the kind of physical exhaustion that dialogue never could carry.

Cherryton Academy has had no Beastar, the honor given to a beast who works to bring carnivores and herbivores together, for five years. After an alpaca is murdered on school grounds, tension between the species keeps rising. Louis, the obvious choice for the title, turns it down and leaves, so the student council promises it to whoever catches the killer. Legoshi, a wolf who has come to accept being a carnivore, feels bound to protect the weak and starts investigating. He also makes a move with Haru, the white rabbit he has complicated feelings for. Meanwhile, at the Black Market, what remains of the Shishi-Gumi is regrouping as the New Shishi-Gumi. The season blends drama, mystery and romance with a psychological edge.
