Phos starts the show wanting to matter and spends twelve episodes discovering what mattering actually costs. The CGI animation moves in ways 2D can't, turning every shattering into something that physically hurts to watch. By the end, you're not following a plot, you're watching someone become unrecognizable to themselves, one broken piece at a time.

Phosphophyllite lives in a far future world, ruined long ago, where crystalline beings called Gems are hunted by the Lunarians, who break them apart and turn the pieces into ornaments. Every Gem is given a role in the struggle, from fighting to healing. But Phos is the youngest and most fragile of them, judged too unskilled for any assignment. Instead, Kongou, the Gems' leader, gives Phos the job of compiling an encyclopedia of natural history. Phos takes on the task reluctantly and soon meets Cinnabar, a sharp-minded Gem sent to patrol the lonely island at night because their body produces a corrosive poison. Seeing how miserable Cinnabar is, Phos sets out to find a role that both rejected Gems can enjoy. The story tracks Phos's attempts to become useful and to protect the other Gems, mixing action, fantasy, mystery and psychological drama.
