Haruka and Michiru get a full episode that SuperS denies them, cruising and fighting like they actually matter to the story. The vampire castle episode gives Chibiusa real teeth as a fighter instead of just tagging along. It's three episodes of pure momentum, disco-lit and fun, made for people who came to Sailor Moon for the outer soldiers and actually want to see them do something.
Sailor Moon SuperS Special brings together three distinct stories from the magical girl saga. The first episode recaps the journey so far, condensing the events of the earlier seasons. The second shifts focus to Haruka and Michiru, the outer guardians, who are out on a cruise. They clash with one of the SuperS enemies and then choose to leave these villains to the classic Sailor Team, which accounts for the outer guardians' absence from this season. The last episode returns to Chibiusa, who discovers that one of her classmates is a monster and battles her alongside the Sailor Team in a vampire castle. Together the three episodes mix action, fantasy and character moments.
