Atsushi Nakajima, 18, is thrown out of his orphanage after being blamed for the attacks of a mysterious white tiger that has plagued it for weeks. Starving and homeless, he pulls an eccentric man named Osamu Dazai out of a river, only to learn that Dazai is a detective with supernatural gifts who has been hunting that same tiger. Working with Dazai's partner Doppo Kunikida, they crack the case, but the answer leaves Atsushi in a bind: the tiger's power lives inside him. Pressed into joining the Armed Detective Agency, a group whose members use inhuman abilities to handle cases the police cannot, he takes on strange mysteries tangled up with the mafia while enemies set their sights on the large bounty tied to the tiger. The agency's members are modeled on literary figures, and the series mixes action, comedy, mystery and the supernatural.
