A sniper wakes up with powers he didn't ask for, gets pulled into a shadow government agency, and discovers the real threat isn't the monsters, it's the people who knew about them all along. The show trades flashy supernatural reveals for the grinding paranoia of field operatives who can't trust their own organization. You're watching people with abilities they barely understand get sent into the desert to clean up messes that someone upstairs created deliberately.

A manhunt goes catastrophically wrong when sniper Shen La and his team stumble into an alien cave, and a strange energy awakens inside him. Rescued by the mysterious white-haired Wu Rendi, Shen La and his companion Sun Desheng are brought to the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation and Research, where they join its First Section. Their initiation includes rescuing an archeological team in the desert and passing an internal transfer test, but Shen La's abnormal energy sparks heated debate within the Bureau and deepens its internal conflicts. Then a wave of paranormal comas sweeps through Kylin City, and in dealing with it the Bureau subdues Yang Liao, another white-haired man, who goes on to work in Section 6 under Wu Rendi. The result is a supernatural action thriller built around hidden powers and a secretive organization divided over how to handle them.
