This one drops you into Arthurian England with Marina and gives you roughly one episode to make peace with it, which is exactly the kind of reckless 1990 OVA math that either delights you or doesn't. It's a time slip fantasy that beat the Fushigi Yuugi wave to the punch, all pretty boys and medieval scenery, except it has none of the runtime to let a romance breathe. The art and music are competent rather than gorgeous, and the story moves so fast that certain narrative turns land more like edits than decisions. Watch it for the premise and the period texture: that specific early-90s shoujo fantasy palette you cannot fake with modern digital paint. If you collect the odd single-shot OVAs that studios fired off and forgot, this is one of the ones worth digging up, flaws and all.

Ikeda Marina, a manga artist who calls herself third-rate, is at a wealthy friend's birthday party when a dragon that travels through time carries the whole gathering off to Camelot in sixth-century Britain. There she has to help Arthur, who hopes to become king, avert civil war by drawing Excalibur from its stone during a coming solar eclipse. The wicked Lady Dola schemes to stop them and take Camelot for herself. Along the way Marina meets plenty of handsome young men in this comedic fantasy adventure, a single OVA loosely based on Fujimoto Hitomi's Mangaka Marina novels for teenage girls.
