SYNOPSIS
Takao Taniguchi sits on the bench at Aoba Gakuin, watching from the sidelines while their star players dominate the field. A transfer to Sumiya 2 junior high offers him something unexpected: a real shot at leadership. The team he finds there isn't loaded with talent. They're underdogs from downtown Tokyo, scrappy and rough around the edges, but willing to work. When Takao becomes captain, the weight of that responsibility crashes down immediately. He has to push players who aren't naturally gifted, build chemistry from nothing, and navigate the pressure of competition while figuring out what kind of leader he actually wants to be. What unfolds is a baseball story about earning your place through effort rather than inheriting it. The anime finds drama not in flashy plays but in the grinding process of improvement, in setbacks that test your resolve, and in the bonds formed when ordinary people refuse to accept being ordinary. As the regional preliminaries loom, Takao's path leads directly back to his old school, forcing a reckoning between the player he was and the captain he's become.
