The subway collapse in the first twenty minutes isn't a setup, it's a statement: this movie wants you breathless from frame one. Conan tracks a grudge buried under concrete and engineering, chasing a criminal logic that actually holds together when you're moving too fast to question it. The action never stops long enough for you to notice the villain's motivation is thin.

On the day Tokyo opens its new Touto subway line, a bomb goes off in a tunnel while the governor is aboard the train. Conan's fast thinking keeps everyone alive. Curious about the attack, he looks into the governor's political past and learns that the man was behind the razing of a Niigata village to make way for the Kitanosawa Dam. Suspecting a link, Conan heads to the area with Ran, Kogorou, Professor Agasa, Sonoko and the Detective Boys, and meets former residents of the lost village. When one of them is killed, Conan races to expose the truth behind both crimes before the next attack.
