The tournament is won, but the show understands that victory is just permission to want something worse. Chihaya chasing Shinobu, Taichi facing Arata, each of them alone with what they actually need from this game: the show strips away the team triumphalism and makes you sit with the cost of ambition. Romance doesn't resolve anything here; it complicates everything, and that's what makes it real.

The Mizusawa karuta club has just won the high school team tournament, but its members still have far to go. Chihaya Ayase wants to challenge Shinobu Wakamiya for the title of Queen. Taichi Mashima has reached Class A, which finally lets him compete against Arata Wataya. With each goal now closer, a surprise revelation catches all of them off guard. The third season of this sports drama blends romance and everyday school life around competitive karuta.
