In an imaginary modern country, the Good for You party takes power without an election and passes a law banning chocolate along with almost every other treat. Huntly and Smudger, two boys who used to loiter at Ms. Bubby's sweet shop hoping to see Louise, learn from her about a secret trade in bootleg chocolate. After cracking a coded message, they find their way to an illicit chocolate party, only for the Chocolate Police to raid it and arrest their friend Div. Angered, the boys and Louise resolve to start a bootlegging venture of their own. Adapted from Alex Shearer's satirical novel Bootleg, the adventure film asks whether the three can bring back the joyful, beautiful life they used to know.
