Ouri Kagami has an unusual attraction to death, and as an orphan living at a shrine he is no stranger to corpses. One night he watches Keisei Tagami, the priest who adopted him and runs his orphanage, seemingly bring the scarred body of schoolgirl Makina Hoshimura back to life. Murdered along with her family, Makina has become a Shikabane Hime, a living corpse contracted to the Kougon Cult who hunts the Shikabane, undead beings that attack and kill people. Keisei is her contracted priest and fights alongside her. As Ouri keeps running into Makina, he slowly uncovers his brother's secret and is drawn into the world of the Shikabane, while their growing closeness may hold the key to its mysteries.
