The jokes land harder this season because the show knows exactly what it's parodying and swings harder at every genre trope it touches. The soundtrack is aggressively catchy, especially when those idol twins show up. The formula repeats every episode, but the comedy writing is sharp enough that you don't actually care that the plot is the same thing over and over.

The boys of Binan High School's Earth Defense Club are famously idle, treating club time as an excuse to lounge at the neighborhood bathhouse. When a pink wombat pleads with them to rescue the planet, they become the Battle Lovers, magical boys powered by love, and clash with the Earth Conquest Club. This second season picks up after both clubs learned their fight was staged for a space TV program, joined forces against its director and got it canceled. Now it is autumn, the five have given up their Battle Lovers duties, and they are relaxing at their usual bathhouse when the Conquest Club brings up a topic that will shake up what comes next. Expect a comedic, slice-of-life take on magical girl tropes.
