Cutie Honey isn't waiting for rescue because she IS the rescue. This is the show that invented the transformation sequence, the one-woman army magical girl, the idea that a woman could be her own hero before anyone else was even thinking about it. The transformation itself became the grammar that every magical girl show after it would inherit, she changes, she fights, she wins, and Panther Claw burns for daring to touch what was hers.
Honey Kisaragi is an android built by Professor Kisaragi, who placed inside her a device able to form matter from the air itself. When the evil organization Panther Claw kills her creator to seize that invention, Honey swears to avenge him and destroy them. Using the device's power to change into different personas, she battles Panther Claw's agents and works her way up its ranks toward its leader, Sister Jill. Some days she's a schoolgirl. Other days she's a racecar driver, a glamorous model or a beggar, but her strongest form is the red-haired warrior Cutie Honey. At school she must also slip past the watchful headmistress, Miss Histler. Helping her, and sometimes getting in the way, are the Hayami family: journalist Seiji, his younger brother Junpei and their father Danbei. The result is a magical girl action series that mixes science fiction, adventure and ecchi comedy with a story of revenge.
