Ryuko's transformation sequences are so visually insane that the actual plot doesn't matter, and the show knows it doesn't matter. Every episode is designed to hit you with three perfect moments back-to-back before cutting to the next scene that's going to hit just as hard. The revenge plot is thin, the logic falls apart by episode ten, but you're too busy watching the animation melt your brain to care.

Ryuuko Matoi arrives at Honnouji Academy carrying half a pair of scissors and a burning need for answers. Her father is dead, and the only clue to his killer is that missing half of his invention, the Scissor Blade. The school runs on a fierce hierarchy under cold student council president Satsuki Kiryuuin and her Elite Four, and students at the top receive Goku Uniforms that grant superhuman abilities. After a crushing defeat, Ryuuko returns to her ruined home and finds Senketsu, a rare sentient Kamui that wakes on contact with her blood and gives her great power. Armed with it and the Scissor Blade, she challenges the Elite Four, hoping to reach Satsuki and learn who killed her father. The result is an action comedy with plenty of ecchi flavor.
