Cyborg 009: The Reopening is a short stereoscopic 3D CGI special based on Shoutarou Ishinomori's classic science fiction manga Cyborg 009. Mamoru Oshii directed it at Production I.G, with electronics maker Panasonic sponsoring the project. The high definition piece runs just under five minutes and premiered at Panasonic's booth during the CEATEC Japan 2010 trade show at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. It brings mecha action and sci-fi adventure to the franchise in a brief showcase format.
