Nobody talks about this one. A single-episode tribute that moves like a fever dream, animated by someone who understands that Mizuki's yokai weren't just monsters to fight but spirits caught between worlds, desperate and lonely. The restraint is what kills you: no exposition, no arc to complete, just a moment of contact between someone alive and something that should stay dead. It exists because an artist decided to honor another artist's centennial by making something that didn't need to exist at all, and that's exactly why it matters.

Damedayo is a short supernatural special directed by Atsushi Wada. It was made for the GeGeGe no Kitarou tribute art exhibition, the Kitaro Expo, an event in Japan honoring the centennial of manga artist Shigeru Mizuki's birth. After first screening at the exhibition, the film was later made available to the public on Toei Animation's Beyond channel on YouTube in March 2024.
