The love story hits harder because Momo and Okarun are still figuring out what they are to each other while getting hunted by actual demons. Season 2 stops explaining itself and just drops you into a town where the rules keep changing, where folklore has teeth, and where a casual joke about dating turns into a life-or-death choice. The animation goes ballistic when it needs to, the comedy lands because these characters feel real even when they're dodging supernatural horror, and by episode three you've stopped asking what's happening and started caring too much to stop watching.

Momo, Okarun, and Jiji are in the middle of exorcising Jiji's family home, and the job is not going to plan. Momo barely escapes someone trying to kidnap her, while Okarun and Jiji are attacked by the Kitou family, the eerie landlords of the cursed property. Their actions start to shake the foundations of a strange town steeped in legend. As the three are drawn further into its tangle of folklore and supernatural beings, each has to rely on their own unique powers to survive and uncover what the town is hiding. This second season of the action, comedy and romance series is based on Tatsu Yukinobu's manga.
