Takeya finds a half-naked alien girl shivering in the bushes and somehow this becomes the most charming thing that happens to him all year. The show knows exactly what it is: pure romantic comedy wrapped in absurd fanservice, where every misunderstanding lands because the cast is genuinely likable instead of just attractive. The premise of alien slaves is uncomfortable, but the actual show treats Ren and her friends as people with agency who want to stay, which reframes everything into something lighter than the setup suggests.

Takeya Ikuhara is an ordinary high school student who wants nothing to do with the DearS, the beautiful aliens whose UFO crashed on Earth a year ago and who were later made Japanese citizens. One day he finds Ren, a shivering alien girl hiding in the bushes, and saves her from being hit by a truck. Once he names her, she chooses him as her master and refuses to leave. Takeya has no idea that DearS are a servile species meant to serve and please their masters, and he fears she is trying to brainwash him. As he tries to teach Ren how people on Earth live, he gradually learns more about her kind. Ren is not like other DearS: she is malfunctioning, and their leader is hunting for her. The result is a comedic sci-fi romance with ecchi touches.
