This movie looks better than it has any right to, with character animation that makes every frame feel lived-in and fight choreography that actually knows how to use space. The story is small enough to breathe, a mystery that spans years, two continents, and the gap between childhood and growing up, without trying to save the world again. The soundtrack undermines itself constantly, cheap jazz and country cuts that feel like they're playing in the wrong movie entirely, which is frustrating because everything else earns your attention.

Years ago, a young boy in America lost one of his Digimon friends. Now a wicked viral Digimon has managed to abduct the original Chosen Children. Their younger friends team up with their own Digimon partners and race the clock to find where this new threat comes from, and along the way they may uncover the answer to a mystery that is years old. The movie mixes action, adventure, fantasy and science fiction.
