He escapes in a stolen fighter and, despite no training, flies it flawlessly, guided by memories carried in his DNA. To learn more, he joins a doctor friend at a hidden lab below ground, where the doctor searches for a way to defeat the regime. The enemy soon attacks to recapture him, and a girl called Rei Yuuki destroys their entire carrier alone in a single fighter. Both seem to possess abilities the enemy covets, and they are the only two known people to have survived the meteor. Torn between the regime and Mello, they have to decide whom to believe.
