Miyu Samura is indecisive, and his luck has hit bottom since his girlfriend Yuuko broke up with him. Months later she reappears and leaves him a rowdy toy poodle named Singe, and Miyu, who knows nothing about dogs, risks eviction over the puppy's behavior. On a walk he runs into Shinichiro Niwa, a dog trainer with near-miraculous skill, and his calm standard poodle Ourson. Impressed by how quickly Niwa sets Singe straight, Miyu quits his job to assist at Niwa's studio, Proud Dog, even though Niwa handles people far less well than dogs and the business is struggling. As families bring their dogs in for training, Miyu comes to see the bond between people and animals, and with help from pet groomer Ritsuka and vet Suzunosuke he grows both as a trainer and as a person. The result is a quiet slice-of-life story about honest work and relationships, human and canine.
