A copper coil wrapped around an iron rod becomes an electromagnet the moment a battery is connected. This educational science film starts from that simple setup and uses it to show how electromagnetism works. Mixing live-action footage with animation, it then applies the same principle to explain how electric bells and telephones are built and how they function.
