Cid's world shrinks down to what it actually is: a bunch of people who like each other, riffing on the absurdity of shadow organization life without needing to save the world to justify it. The chibi art style strips away pretense, and every female character gets her own rhythm instead of orbiting the protagonist. Two minutes is exactly long enough to land a joke and leave before overstaying it.

Em-Shade! Shorts is a set of chibi comedy shorts spun off from Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!, putting that anime's characters into brief fantasy-flavored gags. The seventeen episodes first went up on the KADOKAWA Anime YouTube channel in 2022. They were later bundled as extras across the four Blu-ray and DVD volumes of the main anime.
