A thirty-seven-year-old salaryman dies and wakes up as a gelatinous blob, and somehow that's the least ridiculous thing about what follows. Rimuru doesn't angst about his new form or spend episodes in denial, he leans into the absurdity, names a spider, and accidentally builds a monster nation before realizing what he's done. The show knows it's playing with isekai tropes and swings them around like a slime breaking physics, but it loses momentum the moment it trades that energy for standard harem beats and loli bait.

A lonely thirty-seven-year-old office worker gets a second shot at life, though not in the way he'd expect. After a random attacker stabs him on a Tokyo street, Satoru Mikami wakes up in an unfamiliar fantasy world as a slime, gifted with the power to devour anything and copy its form and abilities. He soon comes across Veldora, the Storm Dragon, who has been imprisoned for three centuries for burning a town to the ground. Feeling for the dragon's plight, Satoru befriends him and vows to help break the seal, and in return Veldora names him Rimuru Tempest. As Rimuru settles into his squishy new body, his dealings with the other monsters around him set off events that will reshape this world. The result is a fantasy adventure that mixes action with plenty of comedy.
