Duwei is reborn into a fantasy world after a life on Earth, and he arrives without a sound, staring at the people around him instead of crying. He grows up without speaking and resents the world he was forced into. His father, Count Du Lei, is a great imperial general who is certain his eldest son must have some talent, but the frail boy shows none, and the family writes him off as a weak heir. A prophecy warns that the long prosperity of the Roland Empire is nearing its end, and that a chosen one will turn the tide. Sent away to the plains by his family, Duwei ends up stranded on an empty island after an accident. There he strikes a bargain with a demon's servant and gains limitless power. Drawing on what he knows from his past life, he sets out to learn the truths of this world and shed his reputation for weakness, even if it means becoming a devil.
