Sumire Suo finishes junior high without a single soccer achievement to her name, though she is a gifted wing held back by a team that cannot match her. Then her rival, Midori Soshizaki, makes an odd offer: join the same high school team, and Midori promises Sumire will never have to play by herself. The offer is sincere, but whether Sumire accepts it is another matter. Elsewhere, Nozomi Onda, who played on the boys' team in middle school, doubts that girls' soccer can challenge her, until her former coach talks her into joining a girls' club. Their paths meet on the girls' team at Warabi Seinan High School, where a large cast of distinct players tries to win and revive interest in women's soccer, a sport whose standing in Japan has been slipping.
