The early pacing crawls, which loses people who want magical girl identity, but by episode seven it stops pretending to be summer vacation and becomes something that doesn't owe anything to the Fate series around it. A kid with a magic stick pulls herself through a collapsing alternate reality one frame at a time, and the show makes you believe it matters.

Illya and her friends thought they were done with magical girl duties for the summer, ready to coast through the rest of their vacation. That hope collapses when they look into a strange event at Mount Enzō and run into an impossible silhouette. After a brief fight, the whole area warps, and Illya wakes up alone in a snowy Fuyuki City in a parallel world, the one where Miyu was born and raised. Her house is in ruins, a huge crater sits in the middle of town, and she has no idea where her friends or her wand Ruby have gone. There she is tackled by Tanaka, an amnesiac girl in a gym uniform who seems to know where Rin, Miyu and the others are. The two end up on the run from agents of the Ainsworth family, who control this world. The show blends magical girl action and fantasy with comedy and ecchi.
