Before that collapse, Fire Force's sound design does something most shonen won't risk: it lets silence matter as much as the explosions, making each fight feel like it's being conducted rather than just animated. Shinra's desperation carries the entire arc, he's fighting the empire itself now, not just the flames, and the show commits to the weight of that isolation.

Shinra Kusakabe and Arthur Boyle come back to Special Fire Force Company 8 after Benimaru Shinmon's brutal training, just as Shinra nears the biggest secret in the world. As the other Fire Force companies band together against a coming disaster, the military police arrest Captain Akitaru Obi under the sway of the White-Clad. The White-Clad pillar Haumea has brainwashed the heads of the Tokyo Empire, and when Company 8 moves to rescue their captain, the squad is labeled a band of rebels. Pursued by the Empire and left to fight on their own, they must save Obi, stop the Evangelist and free Tokyo while a new assassin and the corrupt Captain Burns stand in their way.
