The CGI jank isn't a flaw you tolerate, it's the entire point. Every movement reads like animation being invented on the fly, a show so committed to its own strangeness that coherence becomes irrelevant. The sequel doubles down on this meditative fever dream, letting you sink deeper into a world where anime-chans exist and the laws of fluid motion simply don't apply. By now you've stopped waiting for it to look normal. You're watching to see what impossible thing it does next.

A direct sequel to Forest Fairy Five, Forest Fairy Five ~Fairy Tale~ is a short-format comedy fantasy with musical elements that ran for 12 episodes in 2017. The franchise is set in a Japan now called the Anime Kingdom, where anime-chans live in a fairy world reached through Fairy Rings that might appear anywhere, even in Harajuku or the Ashigara mountains. The shorts aired as part of Anime-chan ni Kaeru Kuni, a variety program on Tokyo MX1.
