These shorts exist in the spaces between races: Makoto spiraling over nothing, Rei discovering he's actually terrified of water, Haruka in a dress because why not. Free! knows its real strength isn't the swimming, it's four boys who genuinely like each other, and these episodes are just watching them be ridiculous together without needing a plot to justify it. If you've ever loved a show enough to want three more hours of your favorite characters doing absolutely nothing important, this is what that feels like.

FrFr! is a set of short comedy specials for Free!, released in three batches as extras on the home video volumes. Volume 1 carries two stories, Volume 3 adds two more, and Volume 5 closes with three, for seven stories in total. Makoto, Rin, Nitori and Rei are named in the story titles. The genres are comedy, slice of life and sports, so expect light, everyday episodes with the cast rather than a new plot.
