The story moves forward without breaking stride. Season 2 commits to its plot instead of spinning wheels, and if you made it through season 1, the payoff actually arrives instead of getting delayed into another arc. The MC still has all the personality of a homework assignment, and the voice acting sounds like it was recorded in a dorm room, but the narrative momentum is strong enough that you stop noticing after episode three. This is a show built for people who need closure more than they need their protagonist to have a pulse.

Mo Fan's ability to use more than one element continues to set him apart in a world transformed by magic. His victory over Yu Ang comes at a price: he has to expose his lightning element. In return he earns seven days of training at the Underground Holy Spring, said to raise a magician's strength enormously. That training ends early when savage monsters suddenly appear around Bo City, something its border defenses should have made impossible. With an emergency declared, Mo Fan must carry the spring, now condensed into a small bottle, to a protected refuge zone. The route is long and full of beasts, and the sinister Black Order is set on stopping him and seizing the spring. Action and fantasy lead the season, with some romance in the mix.
