Nice's headphones coming off still reads as a punchline and a threat at the same time, and Murasaki's exasperation is the only thing holding the whole operation together. Seeing the detective-agency comedy of the first season crash straight into Re:'s grief and body count, with no breathing room between them, actually makes the betrayal land harder than it did weekly. It's a recap, sure, but it's the version where you can watch the joke curdle in real time.
