Two girls delete dying worlds for a living, and one day they find a third girl being born inside the one world they're supposed to erase. The entire movie is the cost of that choice, told in a structure that moves backward through time and sideways through genre, each layer revealing what the previous one meant. You watch it twice because the second time you understand what you were actually grieving.

Two girls patrol the Box of Wisdom, a weightless space filled with endless colored lights that holds many worlds and timelines. Dual and Dorothy are antivirus programs with a harsh job: worlds infected by viruses must be erased. Their routine changes when they sense a new virus and find a girl under attack. After rescuing her, they wait for her to wake so they can learn who she is and where she came from. When she opens her eyes, she gives her name as Remo and says only that she must return to the flower patch. She has no memory of her function, and her presence pushes the pair to see there is more to life than their mission. The three girls begin to experience the digital cities and landscapes firsthand while searching for clues to Remo's forgotten purpose.
