Kitarou doesn't fight the supernatural, he lives inside it, and this movie traps you on a train where the rules of the living world don't apply. Every passenger is running from something, every stop is a choice point between salvation and damnation, and Kitarou moves through it all with the calm certainty of someone who already knows what's waiting at the end. The genius is that the train itself becomes a mirror: you're watching a boy navigate other people's regrets while carrying his own.

Kitarou and a ghost train sit at the center of this supernatural adventure film from 1999. The movie was produced in 3D CG by Toei and first played at Hanayashiki and several other amusement parks. Years later it returned at a Toei 3D anime festival, and it was then released on DVD together with three other CG works from the studio.
