If you watched Genshiken and missed these people, the OVA feels like coming home to your dorm room. Chika's arrival as an otaku-hater forced into the club is the perfect friction point, letting the series do what it does best: watch normal people embarrass themselves over the things they love. Three episodes isn't enough, but it's enough to remember why you cared about this crew in the first place.
A new year begins for the Genshiken, and with it comes the task the club always dreads: finding new members. The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture ends up with Chika Ogiue, handed over to them by the Manga Club, and she introduces herself by bluntly declaring that she hates otaku. Adapted from Kio Shimoku's seinen manga, these three comedy and slice of life episodes pick up after the 2004 TV series and are numbered 13 through 15. They were included as bonus features on the three DVD boxes for the Kujibiki Unbalance TV series.
