A pack of dogs you stop watching for the fight choreography and start watching because you need to know if they survive. Gin isn't a protagonist, he's a kid learning what it means to be worth dying for, and every dog he recruits has already chosen that answer. Gin is a tiger-striped Akita puppy born in the harsh cold of the Ouu Mountains, the son of Riki, the greatest of the bear-hunting dogs. After watching his father die to Akakabuto, a man-eating bear who also defeated his grandfather and now wants to build a stronghold in the mountains, Gin is picked over his siblings to take up his father's role. He joins the Ouu Army, set on bringing the monster down. With only three months left before the final showdown, and with Akakabuto gathering allies of his own, Gin crosses Japan in search of dogs brave enough to stand with him until the end. What lies ahead is an all-out war between dogs and bears, a story of courage, loyalty and inherited duty.
