A Taoist named Cui, trying to get at a heavenly book, accidentally sets free a golden toad that gathers treasure. Tempted by the riches of the human world, the toad is reborn as a man called Dou Zhanlong. To escape a coming heavenly calamity, it tears apart the three souls and seven spirits inside him, producing nine clones that land in nine separate places across parallel times and spaces. Each time one of them dies, another clone arises, and together they endure nine deaths and thirteen disasters. The story opens with the first Dou Zhanlong in a 16-episode ONA that mixes action, fantasy and horror.
