GROTESQQQUE is an anthology film made up of three original animated segments, each with its own setting and premise. In the first, Earth has opened up to exchange with other worlds, and an alien girl named Elie arrives as a goodwill ambassador amid fear and prejudice toward aliens. She adores Earth's culture and its odd daily routines, and she partners with a space agency civil servant to look for friends. The second takes place in GALs TOKYO, a city where morning never arrives, where girls who have lost their place in reality, known as Gal P, gather each night to battle in a game called Queen of Butterfly for the title of Queen. The last is set after humanity has died out. Ayame, a pureblood vampire, travels by van with three girls who survived by being bitten and infected by her. Through vampire eyes, the empty world still looks lovely, with bright starry skies and shimmering golden fields, and the four settle into a quiet everyday life. The film mixes action, comedy, drama, sci-fi and the supernatural.
