Mamoru transforms from invisible loser to actual ninja the second Yuuna needs him, and the show mines pure comedy gold from that split every single time. Yuuna is so aggressively incompetent and optimistic that she makes the whole premise work, she's not a prize, she's the reason the jokes land. The banana song lives rent-free in your head, the supporting cast clicks, and it never pretends to be deeper than a 12-episode comedy that knows exactly what it is.

Kagemori Mamoru looks like a dowdy boy, with messy hair and thick glasses. Nobody would guess he comes from a ninja family, or that his family has secretly guarded their neighbors, the Konnyaku household, for four hundred years. Mamoru's own charge is the family's daughter, Konnyaku Yuuna, whom he has watched over since kindergarten. Whenever Yuuna runs into trouble, he pulls on his ninja suit and becomes a skilled ninja to rescue her. The story mixes comedy and romance, and is adapted from a novel by Achi Tarou.
