The girls are still there, still killing, still pretending it costs them nothing. The OVA doubles down on what makes this franchise unbearable to watch: Jean and Jose trying to convince themselves their conditioning worked, Triela and the others caught in those small moments where the machine cracks and something human bleeds through. By the time these two episodes end, you understand that salvation was never the point, ownership was, and the show has no interest in letting you forget which one actually happened.

These two OVA episodes follow on from the television run of Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino as episodes 14 and 15. Once a mission tied to the past is behind them, Jean and José take a short break together with Rico and Henrietta. The trip brings them to their old home, where Jean's thoughts turn to their younger sister Enrica, who was killed in a terrorist attack. Her memory lingers over the journey, carrying a jealousy toward the affection José shows Henrietta. The result is a quieter, character-focused drama within an action sci-fi franchise.
