The smell hits first. Not as metaphor, not as atmospheric detail, as a physical assault that contaminates everything Kaori touches, that spreads from fish to skin to the very air she breathes, turning her body into a vessel for something she can't see or stop. This isn't a creature feature; it's biological horror that moves at plague speed, indifferent to your survival instinct. The OVA's real cruelty is that by the time you understand what's happening, Kaori's already living in a different world than the one she woke up in, and there's no going back to the version of her that didn't know what death actually smells like.
A sickening smell hangs over Okinawa, where college graduate Kaori and her friends Erika and Aki are on a short seaside vacation. They soon trace it to dead fish crawling out of the sea on metal legs, carrying a disease that humans can catch and that was apparently engineered as a weapon. More of the creatures keep coming. When Kaori phones her fiancé Tadashi in Tokyo, the call breaks off in what sounds like another attack. Leaving her friends to face the onslaught in Okinawa, she heads for Tokyo to find him, aided by a videographer named Shirakawa who is chasing the truth behind the outbreak. This one-episode OVA blends horror, mystery and science fiction.
