SYNOPSIS
Chizuru has spent months embedded with the Shinsengumi, the fearsome samurai militia protecting Kyoto during a turbulent period of Japanese history. Her search for her missing father led her into their ranks after they rescued her from a supernatural creature, and now she's become an integral part of their operations. When imposters begin committing crimes under the Shinsengumi name, suspicion falls everywhere at once. The organization scrambles to maintain order while simultaneously guarding a visiting shogun, their reputation hanging by a thread. The situation spirals when mysterious supernatural beings called rasetsu break free from confinement, and Chizuru vanishes during a routine patrol through the city. As her allies race to find her, darker secrets about her own nature and connection to these creatures begin surfacing.
