A 12-year-old inherits a mansion and 100+ maids overnight, and the show treats this absurdity with zero irony. The comedy lives in watching him get steamrolled by genuine affection from girls who exist purely to service his life, each one a different flavor of maid fantasy played completely straight. It's harem comfort food before comfort food was a genre, all gag timing and character-specific embarrassment with no pretense of actual story.
Twelve-year-old Taro arrives in Tokyo after his mother's death, planning to live with his grandfather. Instead, he finds that the address belongs to a massive mansion staffed by hundreds of maids. After a warm welcome, head maid Mariel plays him a short video message in which his grandfather declares that Taro will inherit his entire fortune. That includes the Hanaukyo estate and the full-time service of every maid in it. Though unsure what to make of it all, Taro starts settling into his new life as the young master, with maids ready to do anything for him. The short-form series mixes comedy, ecchi and romance.
