Sanrio characters slip into fairy tales like they've always belonged there, turning stories you thought you knew into something that feels like a bedtime story told by someone who actually loves you. The animation doesn't reach for spectacle, it reaches for the feeling of being safe, of sitting still while something gentle unfolds. You watch these because the world outside is loud, and this asks nothing of you except to let it be quiet.
Sanrio's beloved characters bring classic tales to life in this charming anthology of 26 OVA episodes. Each episode adapts a fairy tale or fable from somewhere in the world, with Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru, My Melody and their companions in the leading roles. Hello Kitty headlines Snow White, Badtz-Maru appears in The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf, and Pochacco stars in Jack and the Beanstalk. Hello Kitty and Mimmy share the story of King Midas, Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel take on Hansel and Gretel, and My Melody leads Little Red Riding Hood. Other characters, including Hangyodon, Keroppi, Pompompurin and Pekkle, headline their own tales. Every episode tells a separate story, so the collection works for dipping in and out of or watching straight through. It's adventure and fantasy packaged in Sanrio's signature style.
