A girl dies on her way to school and wakes up in Hell's classroom. That's the setup, but the real story is watching her choose to stay, not because she has to, but because the demons around her stopped being monsters the second she treated them like classmates. The animation moves with a kind of fluid weirdness that makes every scene feel like it's bending the rules of what a school comedy is allowed to be, and by the time Rinne realizes she's found something in Hell that the living world never gave her, you understand why she'd hesitate to leave.

Amagane Rinne, a cheerful schoolgirl, is hurrying to school when an accident kills her. Being dead does not get her out of classes, though: she ends up at a strange school in Hell, full of demons. While she struggles with her new surroundings and longs to return to the world she came from, she starts making friends among her demon classmates, which proves harder than it sounds, and forms an unusual bond with them. The film mixes action, comedy, drama, fantasy and horror in its afterlife school setting.
